Your CIBIL score is a three-digit summary of your credit history. TransUnion CIBIL uses a range from 300 to 900; a higher number generally indicates a stronger past credit profile. The report behind the score contains more detail, including credit accounts, reported payment history, balances and enquiries.
A score does not decide an application by itself. Every bank or NBFC applies its own credit policy and also reviews income, existing EMIs, banking conduct, employment or business stability, age, documents and the proposed loan.
Indicative score band
How to interpret it
Practical next step
750–900
Often viewed as a stronger credit profile, subject to the complete report and lender policy.
Compare the total borrowing cost, not only the advertised interest rate.
700–749
May be acceptable to some lenders, depending on payment history, income and obligations.
Review recent enquiries, utilisation and any delayed payments before applying.
650–699
May limit available options or result in closer assessment.
Correct report errors and reduce avoidable outstanding balances where possible.
300–649
Usually indicates a profile that may need improvement or explanation.
Avoid multiple applications; first understand adverse entries and repayment issues.
NH / no score
Can mean there is not enough recent eligible credit history to generate a score.
Ask an advisor about lenders and products suitable for new-to-credit applicants.
Important: These bands are general educational guidance, not a promise of approval or a representation of every lender’s cut-off. Rates, limits, approval and disbursement remain solely subject to the selected lender’s policy and verification.
How to Check and Review Your Credit Report
1. Get the report
Visit the official CIBIL portal, authenticate your identity and obtain the available score and report. The Reserve Bank of India requires credit information companies to provide one free full credit report each calendar year to eligible individuals.
2. Verify the details
Check your name and contact information, open and closed accounts, outstanding balances, days past due, payment history and lender enquiries. Pay special attention to accounts you do not recognise.
3. Dispute inaccuracies
Use CIBIL’s official dispute facility for incorrect information. A genuine negative entry cannot be deleted merely by paying an intermediary; the reporting lender and credit bureau must follow the correction process.
Factors that commonly influence a score
Whether EMIs and credit-card dues were paid on time.
How much of the available revolving credit is being used.
The age and depth of the credit history.
The number and frequency of recent credit applications.
The overall pattern of secured and unsecured borrowing.
Healthy credit habits
Pay every EMI and card bill by the due date.
Keep card utilisation manageable and avoid maxing out limits.
Apply selectively instead of submitting many applications together.
Review the report periodically for errors or possible identity misuse.
Never share OTPs, passwords or bureau-login credentials with an agent.
A CIBIL score is a three-digit summary of an individual credit profile based on information in the credit report. TransUnion CIBIL states that the score ranges from 300 to 900.
Does checking my own CIBIL score reduce it?
No. Checking your own score is a consumer or soft enquiry and does not reduce the score. A lender enquiry made after a credit application is different, and frequent applications in a short period may affect the credit profile.
Is a high CIBIL score a guarantee of loan approval?
No. A credit score is only one part of a lender assessment. Income, current obligations, repayment capacity, employment or business stability, documents, property or collateral checks, and the lender policy also matter.
How can I correct an error in my CIBIL report?
Review the account and enquiry details, then raise a dispute through the official CIBIL portal for information that appears inaccurate. The concerned bank or financial institution may also need to confirm corrected data.
Can Suvidhan change or repair my CIBIL score?
No. Suvidhan Fineserv cannot directly alter a bureau score or remove accurate repayment history. We can help you understand the report and prepare a suitable loan application, but corrections must follow the bureau and lender dispute process.
